About Us

DTG Testing is the UK digital TV industry’s test house.

Founded in 2000, DTG Testing is a subsidiary of the Digital TV Group: the industry association for digital television in the UK. DTG Testing is not-for-profit, with all surplus reinvested in providing world-leading test and conformance services.

DTG Testing provides the product testing services used by manufacturers to demonstrate conformance to the UK Freeview HD, Freeview Play, Freeview New Zealand, Freesat, HbbTV, at800 and Ghana Digital Thumb logos.

We are the UK’s only UKAS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited laboratory for standard and high definition digital terrestrial television (Freeview) and standard and high definition digital satellite (Freesat) receiver testing.

DTG Testing produces industry-approved test suites that ensure products meet the performance required to meet the criteria for the ‘digital tick’ and the Freeview, Freeview HD and Freesat logos.

DTG Testing’s receiver ‘Zoo’ houses the UK’s largest collection of representative samples of DTT and DSAT receivers. The Zoo, housed in a state-of-the-art facility benefiting from climate and gas suppression fire control, is designed to be able to simulate a variety of broadcast and coexistence scenarios by feeding in one or more signals and viewing the effect on devices. As such, the RF feed is fully flexible in respect of signal strength, quality and configuration. Additionally, all receivers with IP network capability are connected to ensure interactive services are available and that each receiver’s software is kept up to date. The Zoo was used to support the digital switchover by gathering data about the capability of receivers deployed in the UK and for interactive application testing.
