PMSE 700 MHz Clearance Coordination


The DTG, in collaboration with industry stakeholders and members of the PMSE Implementation group, have undertaken a project to help ensure that equipment and practices supporting PMSE following the clearance of the 700 MHz band continue to deliver to expectations. This report provides an overview of activities undertaken to date and contains within the annexes the documents and guidelines produced as part of this activity including the following:

  • Best practice guidelines for PMSE site planning to be used as a template for assessing, planning and implementing redeployments of PMSE equipment for venues, outside broadcasts, touring events and studios
  • Definition of operational parameters to be addressed when gathering requirements for PMSE equipment. These include factors such as battery life and size, ease of use and operating temperatures
  • PMSE equipment technical guidelines providing a tool for verification of PMSE equipment deployments, including suggested testing methods and interpretation of results, to be used in conjunction with the minimum requirements for PMSE equipment detailed in ETSI EN 300 422
  • Tests and trials template for verification of new equipment deployments in a production environment

As part of the process to develop these guidelines, several interviews took place with key stakeholders with the intention of gaining insight into the practices currently used in the industry. Through this several other aspects relating to the 700 MHz clearance project, and spectrum allocation practices, were discussed with resultant findings and recommendations included in this report.
