New Test Suite releases

DTG Testing is happy to announce a significant update to their test suite products.

These releases bring test suites up to D-Book 7 Part A v3 functionality. This includes new tests for private data specifier descriptor behaviour (UK SI), subtitle accuracy (Linear Services) and DVB-T guidance tests (UK SI). There are also a number of bug fixes, see release notes for details. MHEG releases cover all regions except Freesat. Freeview New Zealand SI and DTR test suites are also included.

To aid with LTE co-existence, all test streams are now configured to be played out below channel 61.

Existing licensees with a current support contract for these test suites are entitled to the updates at no extra cost.

All new test suites will be in use for conformance testing of devices from 01/10/13. The current released versions will be used only for devices presently under test, with an end of life date of 31/12/13.

An update for the Freesat test suite products is scheduled for mid-October.

If you wish to purchase any of the test suites, please contact Ewa – [email protected]

TestLink integration

With this set of releases we have introduced an additional document distribution format.

All testing in DTG Testing is now managed using the TestLink Test Management System. This provides a simple, low cost method of managing test requirements, specifications and operator instructions, as well as a centralised store of test results for generating reports. For further information on this open source tool please visit http://www.testlink.org.

To make it easy for customers to adopt this tool we are now publishing all test specifications and instructions in an interchange format that can be imported into a TestLink installation. This will allow testing to be performed using a web-based UI, replacing the current combination of PDF and Excel documents. Customers with a TestLink installation can import each new release with ease, incorporating DTG Testing test cases into their own test plans. Full details of the required customisations (additional fields, etc.) are provided with the test suites.

The previous document formats will continue to be provided whilst customers make the transition to a fully online system. In addition, documents are available in HTML format.

The publishing format is XML based, so it is possible to import the data into other Test Management Systems if you already have a similar system in use. If you require further assistance with this please contact us through Customer Services.

We are interested to hear your experience with this new document distribution method. If you are implementing a new Test Management System (TestLink or another) please let us know. To help you to adopt TestLink, DTG Testing will be providing training courses on TestLink installation and operation. If you are interested in this training please contact Customer Services ([email protected]).
