Job Vacancy: Conformance Test Engineer

DTG Testing is looking for an experienced Conformance Test Engineer to join the team.

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Head of Product Testing, the postholder will be responsible for conducting tests on digital TV products  in so far as qualified to do so by the Head of Product Testing in order to check conformance with appropriate platform specifications, using DTG Test Suites or following test procedures using automated testing equipment located in the laboratory.  This includes completing standard documentation and submitting draft reports to a Lead and/or Senior Conformance Test Engineer or the Head of Product Testing.

MAIN TASKS

Under the guidance of the Head of Product Testing Services, the Lead Conformance Test Engineer and/or Senior Conformance Test Engineers, to undertake tests or other activities supporting the implementation of the UK profile of the DVB-T/T2 specification.

To undertake testing of consumer products and documenting the results for reporting to the manufacturer.

To provide support for the development of DTG Test Suites and the D-Book specification for digital television receivers.

To work with other engineers, from both broadcasters and manufacturers, in collaborative activities.

To complete documentation for the tests, including material to be incorporated in confidential Reports to manufacturers and other authorised recipients and to assist the Head of Product Testing in finalising Reports.

To provide technical advice and consultancy, both to the DTG and to outside organisations on matters within the postholder's field of expertise.

To support the DTG’s continuous improvement programme by suggesting improved ways of working or ways of increasing the reliability, repeatability and quality of testing outcomes.

To carry out any other tasks required in relation to testing equipment or software involved in the implementation of digital TV across the whole range of relevant consumer products.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will:

Demonstrable experience of testing iDTVs and STBs
Have a relevant technical degree and knowledge of DVB domain.
Have demonstrabley relevant experience in a similar technical or product development environment.
Be familiar with the quality and confidentiality requirements of working in a laboratory
Be able to work unsupervised and be confident in using initiative yet know when referral is necessary.
Be able to perform tests in a timely and efficient manner.
Be able to propose methods or solutions for improvement and enhancing quality
Possess analytical and problem solving skills.
Be a self starter and excellent time manager
Have experience of completing documentation with demonstrable accuracy
Be highly computer literate in MS Office Suite.
Have a ‘can do’ attitude with infectious drive and energy

(desirable)

Experience of testing iDTV and STB with DTG Testing Test suites
Familiarity with Automated Test tools (MiriATE)
Have experience in a customer-driven environment.
Be able rapidly to build good relationships with external contacts.
Understanding of RF principles

Over-air download schedule
